I shabby Bowers No.10 for almost a month. Vata replaced. Old able to get through without any problems filling the hole with a diameter of 4 mm think if come off a piece - any troubles to haul the rest of the wool. Old wool throw before began to prepare a new, and therefore it had to choose the number of's capacity. I clog wool already back parts: the whole not slipped.
Please Bower No.10 did not like - the lid opens with difficulty, on the right angle does not lean. In the process of use proved that it is useful: one-piece body, because the size of a lighter more compact flip-tops with inserts. The lid opens and developm now one finger, making its specific cliques (like the note "G" :)). Previously it opened with difficulty because just zakorela times. The wheel is turned very easily. Cork-screw is not leaking (and I was afraid of this, because the seal her - something hardened, but not tires. And maybe rubber, hardened by time). The shape and location of the wheel windshield is such that you can easily clean the whole soot falling on the body.
Only here may have problems with the replacement of the wick, which is now firmly hit wool. This wool and will have to once get. And well, if you can pull through ..., filler hole. If not - then just vibivat a needle through the wick hole.
Oh, I forgot the most important thing. 6 days dressing keeps stable. Inserts are not present, so the evaporation only through the wick. A flame Licked Upright cover then being closed, nice warm hands in the winter.
Question Boversovodam: looks like a seal on your traffic jams? This tire or is it not?

  2. sspas - 09.01.2010

Looked at three Bowers, is not the same tires. Laying from outside the red, with a side viewed through a magnifying glass, fiber structure. What material do not know.

  3. kypexin - 11.01.2010

Jura, about the cotton you do not worry. This all comes with experience. I, too, once the first time like a fool staring at a small fuel hole, being accustomed to Zippo. In fact, very fine forceps can be removed through the wool almost any hole :))

  4. botas - 19.01.2010

sspas, examined under a magnifying glass gasket - accurately - as if the structure of the PCB, as if layered.
Vladimir, thank you, reassured :) By the way, recently pulled the wick zippovsky. (a little more than a month and a half was burnt). I stretched very easily.

Here's another question Bowers: my on the end of spring there is no metal gasket-aglet that have Zippo (and most other flip-tops) rests with flint. If your Bowers such a thing?

  5. kypexin - 19.01.2010

Aglet these over time tend to get lost. Frankly, I do not remember, whether they are in my Bowers ... probably somewhere not. They simply do not have often in the vintage lighters, regardless of the brand :)

  6. botas - 23.01.2010

    Understood thanks:)

  7. Hartman - 03.02.2010

Laying in Bowers # 10 I'm classified as paronite. What is interesting, in my still aglet at the end of the spring is. With a bit of nail head, very fine, almost imperceptible.
Screw the reservoir discovered in deepening flint silver color. :) Vata inside beleyshaya though the wick split, and used a lighter to smoke it thoroughly.
The lid opens with a plaintive squeak and sometimes dokryvaetsya through. Any comparison with Zippo kryshkootkryvaniya process is not - there is nothing "tasty" cheerful "Ping!".

  8. faust - 12.05.2010

me too now the task of replacing the wick in Bowers №10, or rather its installation. And another question: how to determine the year of manufacture of the tenth Bowers? on the opening of the cover - cover my newly opened very cool, even has a nice sound (not zippovsky of course, but still).

  9. kypexin - 12.05.2010

Year did not identify. All of them are somewhere in the early 50's, but I do not say that.

Wick forgive me. Arm thin tweezers and gently remove any cotton. It is only at first it seems that it is very difficult to do through a narrow opening. But in fact, you can quickly pridrochitsya, well, a maximum of an hour to have sex, and then it is easier :) :)

  10. faust - 13.05.2010

:) Ok, thanks! I basically in Ronson changed, there is not very thick, the hole was, so I think everything will turn out! I even try to put a wick in zippovski. :)

  11. Hartman - 13.05.2010

About wicks - three Bowers-ax wicks short and thick, svoebrazny such invoices. As ever put it - is unrealistic. Most similar to the wick at Ronson Winlite - only Ronson he is thicker, but too short.

  12. val1730 - 17.07.2010

I bought not long ago Bowers, was sold as scrap) Very rusty, on the wheel of cuts to be seen and rust, screw filling "struh" had to cut with conventional 6mm screws Washed, cleaned, switched to the floor kick, I would Zippo even compared:) on Zippo I generally allergic :) (I do not want to offend fans Zippo) Personally, my Zippo not popolzovalsya a year, cover loose, insert nipped, and what for me one click, if the view from the lighter, 50 years draws: ) :) :)

  13. Hartman - 03.02.2011

Bowers # 10 can shoot a gun at the enemy, and then to find the cigarette lighter in the cup and calmly from her to light - it is forever. :)

  14. faust - 05.02.2011

nuuuu as saying. wheel on my erased almost completely (it is somewhere in the 50s) .and it is very difficult to ignite. and so, apparently, very Nitsche.

  15. Hartman - 06.02.2011

Someone powerful lighting a cigarette from her, apparently.
I have one such "Lifetime" Lighter - Mosda, it also flints Stoch to baldness, and judging by the trail repair and general clobbered, vladaelets used it all my life. I have not even began to be restored - so left as a monument to fidelity choice. :)

  16. faust - 07.02.2011

:) Someone nervously lighting a cigarette
    Mosdy I do not have.

  17. Dandruff - 15.06.2012

Tell me, please, where to get a thick wick? My Bowers big hole, the fuel evaporates quickly and wicks Zippo, Newport and Wick are not suitable. The store could offer only three types of wicks, but they are thin

  18. kypexin - 15.06.2012

wicks can be taken only from old lighters, or search on eBay the old thick wicks ronsonovskie 50s that way rarity.

  19. Dandruff - 15.06.2012

kypexin, thank you. I'll try to dig up)

  20. Sanych - 18.09.2012

Acquired Bowers No. 10. Thing! Of course there were questions immediately.
Laying my white tank if gasket. Сфотографировал: http://i42.fastpic.ru/big/2012/0918/cf/d4a5ba83e82ef9ef1601335cf0b462cf.jpg
The funnel - gryazka, like a coked dust. Otvёrkoy not taken.
    Questions:
    - Laying on whether there is a traffic jam?
    - Should be in the funnel of pure chromium, or whatever it is so conceived?
    - How much adjustment is to pull out the wick, and how, if necessary, push it back (sorry .. wool removed as new ..)? I'm at the level of the top hole in the windproof panel.
    - Suitability to our Zippo lighter silicon from that in every store?

  21. kypexin - 18.09.2012

Hi, Sanych. The edges of the crater is not necessarily able to chrome-plated - for cork grind better. In a traffic jam - installation just to not flowed. The wick is necessary to pull out the edge of the windshield, not higher. Push in any way - or cut flush with the edges, or gut the entire cotton and shift the wick and fill again (but this is not a task for the faint of heart :)). Theoretically, you can use any of silicon, but it is better to use a soft, because the wheel can be worn out - so it's best Imkovskie or any other pick. They will be consumed faster, but will not kill the wheel completely.

  22. Sanych - 19.09.2012

All sensible Buda! Balde on. As always, we collect for themselves. While launched on unleaded petrol Nefras-2 80/120 Shoe (it is recommended for the different stoves and catalytic burners). Lit .. seems strange after five seconds the lighter is heated, together with gasoline, and it radiates through the wick, tries to set fire to all the space in the dashboard and under the hood. Wait until the excess weathered.

Without gasket is peretopchus (.. there did not seem to smell ..), but then cut out of the petrol-resistant rubber.

I am the wick and silicon. Here is what dug (.. sorry that is not hyperlinked, I was called a spammer ..):

    What do you think..?

I very much want to put a weak spring. To what such an effort. At the same time put the heel of a flint, I have it not, flint sits right in the spring. Do you know where you can get such happiness? Cut the spring is possible, but there is an extreme round mixed by ...

Sanych post it better than a new post. There's a lot of people will read and immediately distribute practical advice :)

The system understood :) made upon most do not want is impossible. Povydavlival posduval and the sky too much - everything went. Through the wool does not give, good wool did then.
