Scripto Vu-Lighter, 1950
Manufacturer: Scripto Inc.
Name: Scripto Vu-Lighter
Type: gasoline lighter
Material: plastic, brass
Year of release: 1950
Country: United States
Approximate cost: $ 20-70
Scripto lighter was one of the first plastic lighters, and it allows you to visually assess the amount of remaining fuel in it. Its mechanism is equipped with a system to wick fuel swap, for this is a special button on the side of the lighter, while the wick itself was not constantly immersed in the fuel chamber. Such a mechanism virtually eliminates evaporation of gasoline, as in conventional lighters where the wick was inserted directly into the fuel tank. Scripto - an absolute champion among the tightness of petrol lighters: even today you can find items that have been preserved for 50-60 years old gasoline in the fuel chamber.

A curious fact - this design was stale neillyuzorno non anlogov Soviet designers for the first time in the world. :)
Otlichalast progenitor of the fact that the pieces are inserted into the tank slides are generally not subject Leningrad.

so dumb for sho :)
It is a pity that the owner of the "Soviet" Scripts disappeared and photos are no longer spread.
botas - 19.03.2010
But there is a suspicion that the script can not replace the wick.
At least, on a sticker on the case - not a word. A tear out the wick of his once jabot strangles :)
When collecting Old pro script - somewhere in the internet mentioned that the wick does not change. See the instructions in the paper to the script - so ibee if there is, then removed finely.
Here's Scripts good collection.

The Mystery of the wick disclosed. Nominally it really does not change. Written on a script on a sticker at the back:
«WICKS. Permanent wick requires no service. If lost, contact Scripto »

Seen in the sale of a set. One point lighter, and a bunch of spare parts, all sealed. What were all I do not remember, but remember exactly. -Lower Plastic cup was part of it. And the middle part, which is the button swap, there were a lot of different colors. There was something else I do not remember. From this we can conclude that the lighter is completely collapsible. I'll have to try to understand some of those killed.

http://talks.guns.ru/forummessage/21/453775-2.html - here someone collapse of the Soviet clone scripts - can prigodlitsya infa?
botas - 20.03.2010
Hartman, Yeah, destroyed so that the body firmly glued-glass back to the middle part, IMHO, is unlikely to succeed, too short ledge when connecting:

sspas, interesting naborchik. But it seems to me that the case-glass glued to the middle of the once and tightly. Considered this red that is in the photo - at the junction of the transparent plastic slightly melted probably due to the effects of glue.
Hartman - 22.03.2010
Yes, collapsible design virtually the same as collapsible, approximately one-off Chinese lighter. Fracture design. :)
It's funny - all gonna-gonna buy scripts, "Schaub Bulo" - so did not find the time ...
botas - 24.03.2010
And such a variety of them :)

The one with the coin - it's expensive for the script is gone.

And the price tags on the scripts I like that I can not digest dosihpor - worth it very expensive for such a structure made of plastic. Reptilian asphyxia guaranteed in my case. :)

The film "The alarm Sunday" (1983. USSR Director: Rudolf Fruntov)
Summary: A woman throws Skripto VU-lighter, lighter lopaetsya, gasoline and follows the whole movie people extinguish the burning tanker.
botas - 03.04.2010
Hartman, a set of wonderful :) This is a pity and even used for its intended purpose in the repair Scripts too good for collection.
Another mystery (replacement wick) Scripts fewer.
Stas13, serious woman throws a script? I remember a movie - not a woman. Would have to reconsider.

Soviet "script" was mentioned in the Russian press in 1997, the year.
http://zippocollector.ru/archives/2072
"... In the 70 years the domestic industry has created a horrible parody of the" Zippo ". Tank of gasoline is made of transparent plastic, and in the fuel splashed slide overlooking some soviet attractions. Before you carve a spark had long press on the special button to irrigate gasoline stunted body wick ... "

But almost bought it ... Well, these carburetors and disposable wicks.

Normally they know, there is a very low melting plastic - heated thin blade is very easy to separate the transparent container, then just priplavit it back. And you can change the gum, the main thing apart. The hardest carefully remove the top metal cover (wick inserted through a narrow opening in cotton wool, cotton wool if pre-stretch a little thin screwdriver - to replace the wick also not be a problem)
