At the bottom of the lighter has a French tax stamp - such mark is affixed to all cigarette lighters imported into France from about 1912 to 1950. It was an economic measure to restrict the import of lighters from other countries and to support producers in France itself. By the way, Belgium is also followed in the years of the same policies, however, the Belgian stamps are less likely to lighters.
