Scripto Vu-Lighter, 1950
Manufacturer: Scripto Inc.
Title: Scripto Vu-Lighter
Type: Gas Lighter
Material: plastic, brass
Release year: 1950
Country: United States
Average price: $ 20-70
Scripto lighter was one of the first plastic lighters, and it allows you to visually estimate the amount of remaining fuel in it. Its mechanism was equipped with pumping fuel to the wick, for this is a special button on the lighter side, with the wick itself was constantly immersed in the fuel chamber. Such a mechanism is practically excluded the evaporation of gasoline, as in ordinary lighters where the wick was inserted directly into the fuel tank. Scripto - absolute champion of tightness of gasoline lighters: even now you can find instances that have survived for 50-60 years in the fuel gas chamber.

This model - one of the most mysterious in the line of gasoline Ronson mid-20th century. It was invented and patented designer of Art Metal Works Kaupmannom Frederick in 1945, and legend says that this is why this model does not carry the name «Ronson» - in fact all the other models of the time were invented and patented by Louis Aronson. I know of two types of Rama-Spin, one released to obtain a patent, apparently in 1945 or early in 1946, and one after, and is on the bottom of the patent number D145218. These models are not only labeled on the bottom, including the designation of the manufacturer, but also other small design details. Photos supplied in pairs: the old (before 1946) and new (1946 and later) model.
