Thorens single claw, 1914
Title: Thorens single claw
Type: semi-automatic petrol lighter
Year: 1920
Country: Switzerland
Estimated cost: $ 50-200
A patent for a lighter Thorens was obtained in 1914, but the lighter was produced from about 1920. This is one of the first models of automatic lighters with a lid on a spring: when you click the lid is opened and simultaneously sparks, combustible wick. The wheel rotated at the opening of the lid with a hook, which in early models Thorens was only one side of the wheel, hence the name «single claw». The earliest models had a plug for charging from the side at the end of a cigarette lighter, a little later fueled lighters have a screw hole in the bottom.
